A slot result is an uncertain event. Animation, near misses and recent outcomes do not reveal what the next result will be.
Random-number generation
Digital products commonly use random-number generation to select outcomes according to programmed rules. A previous loss does not make a win due, and a previous win does not make another win impossible. Each eligible play is settled under the product’s rules.
Return to player
A published return-to-player percentage is a long-run theoretical measure under specified conditions. It is not the percentage an individual session will return. A player can lose the full amount set aside long before results resemble a long-run average.
Volatility
Volatility describes how returns may be distributed. Products with infrequent larger returns can create longer losing sequences; frequent smaller returns can still leave the player with a net loss.
Common myths
- A machine is not necessarily due after a losing sequence.
- Changing stake size does not remove the house advantage.
- A near miss is not evidence that the next play is more likely to win.
- A return percentage is not a session guarantee.
